Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) Analysis

Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) Analysis
Details:
EDS stands for Energy Dispersive Spectrometer, which is an X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy analysis method. Its principle is based on the fact that different elements emit characteristic X-rays with different frequencies, or energies. These characteristic X-rays allow for qualitative and semi-quantitative detection of the elements contained in a sample, thus determining the sample's composition. It's important to note that EDS generally only analyzes elements after Li in the periodic table (excluding Li). EDS is typically used in conjunction with an electron microscope for micro-area, point-to-point compositional analysis. Commonly used electron microscopes include SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), FIB (Focused Ion Beam Microscopy), and TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), corresponding to SEM-EDS, FIB-EDS, and TEM-EDS, respectively.
