On May 28,2025, ECHA announced that three chemicals might be designated as High Concern Substances (SVHC). The weekly report indicated that the identification intentions for '4,4' -methylene diphenol ',' 4,4 '-[2,2,2-trifluoro-1-(trifluoromethyl)ethylidene] diphenol (BPAF) and its salts', and '1,1' -([ethane-1,2-dialyl]) bis[pentabromobenzene] (DBDPE)' have been received as High Concern Substances. These intentions are not yet listed on the SVHC intention registration board of the ECHA website.

SVHC Business Accountability
ECHA emphasizes that companies must comply with the requirements of regulations and fulfill their obligations as stipulated by these regulations. If the content of SVHC substances in a product exceeds 0.1% (w/w), according to the Waste Framework Directive (WFD), companies must notify the Scientific Committee on Pesticides and Chemicals (SCIP) starting from January 5, 2021. The information from SCIP notifications will be published on the ECHA website. Under the REACH Regulation, if the content of SVHC substances in a product exceeds 0.1% (w/w) and the substance is used in more than one ton per year, manufacturers or exporters must notify ECHA. If the content of SVHC substances in a product exceeds 0.1% (w/w), they must also fulfill the obligation to communicate this information.
As of now, the list of substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) has a total of 247 items, including 1 pending substance, 3 under review, and 5 intended substances (not yet open for public comment). The SVHC list is updated twice a year. As the SVHC list continues to be updated, companies face an increasing number of regulatory requirements. It is recommended that companies conduct early investigations into their supply chains.
