On November 7, 2024, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced that triphenyl phosphate (TPP) was officially included in the list of SVHC candidate substances, bringing the total number of SVHC candidate substances to 242.
About Triphenyl Phosphate
EC No.:204-112-2
CAS No.:115-86-6
Reason for proposal: Endocrine disruption characteristics (Article 57 (f) - Environment)
Potential applications: Used as flame retardants and plasticizers, mainly as flame retardants and plasticizers for engineering plastics and phenolic resin laminates, as well as softeners for synthetic rubber and raw materials for manufacturing trimethyl phosphate. High risk materials mainly include plastics (particles, sheaths, sleeves, films, etc.), rubber, foam materials, PCBs, adhesives, coatings, electronic components (capacitors, inductors, etc.), textiles, oils, etc.
SVHC Corporate Responsibility
ECHA emphasizes that companies need to comply with regulatory requirements and fulfill their obligations as stipulated by regulations. If the content of SVHC substances in an item exceeds 0.1% (w/w), according to the requirements of the Waste Framework Directive WFD, starting from January 5, 2021, companies are required to conduct SCIP notification, and the SCIP notification information will be published on the ECHA official website.
According to REACH regulations, if the SVHC substance content in an article exceeds 0.1% (w/w) and the substance content in the article exceeds 1 ton/year, the manufacturer or exporter must notify ECHA; If the SVHC substance content in the product exceeds 0.1% (w/w), the obligation of information transmission must be fulfilled.
