Service Background
In 1994, the European Union issued the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive 94/62/EC, which aims to ensure that packaging is suitable for collection, reuse, recycling, and promoting energy recovery, while minimizing the toxicity, hazards, and environmental impact of packaging materials; Minimize the weight and volume of packaging waste.
The TPCH (Toxics in Packaging Clearing House) in the United States was originally called CONEG, which was a local regulation restricting packaging materials. After TPCH was established in 1992, CONEG changed its name. Specifically responsible for promoting and coordinating the implementation of the Model Regulations for the Control of Toxic Substances in Packaging Materials in the United States, a coordinated regulation aimed at reducing the content of certain harmful substances in packaging materials.
TPCH released a new version of the "Demonstration Regulations for the Control of Toxic Substances in Packaging Materials" in February 2021. The updated content includes: adding requirements for perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and phthalates as regulated chemicals.
