Common Problem

Q: What is the difference between ELV directive and RoHS directive?

A: 1. ELV regulations apply to automotive related products, controlling lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, polybrominated diphenyl ethers, asbestos, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
RoHS is a directive that specifies the prohibition of hazardous substances in electronic and electrical equipment. Ten harmful substances are prohibited: lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), as well as di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), toluene butyl phthalate (BBP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP).
3. Manufacturers of automobiles and their components must comply with ELV's relevant directives rather than RoHS directives. Please note that electronic and electrical products that can only be used in vehicles, such as car speakers, must comply with the ELV directive; If this electronic and electrical product can be used alone or also applicable to other electronic and electrical products, it needs to comply with both the RoHS directive and ELV regulations.
4. Many automobile manufacturers or assembly manufacturers have their own special ELV testing requirements, clear and specific management standards, and must comply with their specific requirements and provide testing services that meet their requirements.
