Acceleration Test

Acceleration Test
Details:
Acceleration test is extensively employed to evaluate equipment mounted on aircraft, helicopters, manned spacecraft, external aircraft stores, and ground-launched missiles. This testing aims to validate the equipment's resilience to steady-state inertial loads induced by the platform's acceleration, deceleration, and maneuvering in its operational environment. Additionally, it ensures that there is no degradation in performance both during and post these load applications.

Service Content

Acceleration tests typically encompass the following modes:

1) Structural Testing

To verify the equipment structure's ability to withstand loads resulting from applied acceleration.

2) Performance/Functional Testing

To verify that the equipment's performance does not degrade when subjected to loads generated by applied acceleration and thereafter.

3) Crash Safety Testing

To verify that the equipment does not rupture or detach from its mounting bracket under the impact of crash acceleration.

Service Scope

The acceleration test method is applicable to material that is installed in mobile platforms such as aircraft, helicopters, aerospace vehicles, air-carried stores, ground-launched missiles, trains, ships, automotive vehicles, etc.

Service Background

The acceleration test is performed on a centrifuge to assure that material can structurally withstand the steady state inertia loads that are induced by platform acceleration, deceleration, and maneuver in the service environment, and can function without degradation during and following exposure to these forces. Acceleration tests are also used to assure that material does not become hazardous after exposure to crash loads.
